Who are we?

The  St. Charles  County  German  Heritage Club was founded January 30, 1973, by a small group of St. Charles residents.  The club's goals are simple:  to share traditions handed down by our German ancestors, to preserve the history of German settlers in St. Charles County, to foster understanding of German customs and culture, and to generally promote Gemütlichkeit among our members.  Additionally, through guest speakers and other activities, we strive to promote German language skills; understand Germany's economic, political, and social structure; and have fun in the process.

Regular club meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month at 7 pm at Stegton Regency Banquet Center, 1450 Wall Street, St. Charles, Missouri 63303 (near OfficeMax and Sam's Club).  For more information or to contact us, keep reading to the end of our website, and "Vielen Dank" for visiting.

What do we do?

German oriented activities or speakers are featured at regular meetings. Several times during the year we gather only to socialize, for example, a one-day bus trip to a German ancestral town or event; our annual picnic in the park; the Oktoberfest celebration and dinner/dance; and a gala Christmas party.

We also take advantage of the wealth of German heritage all around us -- along the Missouri Weinstrasse; in other nearby towns with Germanic connections such as Hermann, New Melle, Augusta, St. Louis, Maeystown, IL; as well as the cultural information available at the German Culture Center at the University of Missouri St. Louis, St. Louis Art Museum, Deutsche Kulturverein in south St. Louis, among others.
